Lost Spring
Anees Jung
Lost Spring – Anees Jung "Lost Spring" is a poignant narrative that highlights the harsh realities of child labor and poverty. Divided into two parts, the story presents the lives of two children: Saheb, a ragpicker in Seemapuri, and Mukesh, a child laborer in the glass-blowing industry of Firozabad. Saheb's dreams of going to school remain unfulfilled due to poverty, and he ends up scavenging for survival. Mukesh, though born into a family of bangle-makers, aspires to be a motor mechanic. The story contrasts their aspirations with the cruel reality they face, shedding light on the socio-economic structures that trap children in a cycle of deprivation.
